The Problem...

One of the greatest challenges in owning a 2nd home in the mountains is that the property maintenance realities can be significant.  If not regularly maintained, your beautiful mountain getaway can quickly show its wear and tear.

Unfortunately, non-local 2nd Homeowners are at an immediate disadvantage simply because you aren't present to keep an eye on the property and oversee work being done.  You need a reliable solution you can trust, and yet historically, your best option has been to rely on 3rd party service providers and hope that they are caring for your property according to your standards.  For the typical 2nd homeowner, it is not at all unusual to have a sizable rolodex of local service contacts that provide specific services and can be called upon as needed (Housekeeping, Snow Removal, Hot Tub Maintenance, Landscape Services, Handyman, etc.).

The problem with this approach is that, while each of these service providers may very well be qualified in their respective area, they generally focus on the task at hand and have limited ability to keep in mind “the bigger picture” relative to your property.  As an example, the crew providing landscape maintenance would not think to check on the overall cleanliness of the hot tub as it’s not considered “their responsibility”.  Nor would they think to check on or address other common maintenance items that keep the property in optimal condition.  The dilemma is understandable, and yet, the inability to take note of and address overall property maintenance issues results in a poor level of service and a reactive maintenance approach at best.  As a homeowner, you end up paying more for this approach as each 3rd Party Provider is limited to their service area and lacks the economies of scale that can translate into monthly savings.

Our Solution...

We approach property maintenance in a different way!   We take great pride in knowing your property as well as you do and caring for your property according to your specific standards.  While we don't claim to "do it all", the majority of services are provided by our in-house team of maintenance professionals.  These professionals are extensively screened prior to joining Criterion and receive in-depth training in multiple service areas.  They are then assigned to a team that is responsible for maintaining a limited number of properties.  This “limited” approach is done by design, as we want each team to maintain a proactive approach towards their properties and focus on keeping each property in optimal condition.

“Criterion’s Complete Home Maintenance Solution is like a highly personalized HOA for 2nd Homeowners! It’s so nice having one reliable company to deal with for all our property maintenance needs.  The peace of mind alone is worth every penny.  What a fantastic service!"

Will Wells - Tahoe Park 2nd Homeowner

The basis of our Complete Home Maintenance Solution is built around our teams providing recurring maintenance services that encompass 85 - 90 % of the work required to keep your property in optimal condition.  By doing so, our teams can then leverage their time while at your property to remain proactive and address many of the non-recurring issues that may arise.  Each team is equipped to handle all routine maintenance issues and can address many of the most common basic repairs while on premise.

As an example, your crew may have originally arrived with the intention of cleaning your house.  While on site, and by following our Detailed Property Checklist, it was observed that the hot tub was particularly dirty and in need of a “drain & fill”.  It was also observed that the pilot light was out (and thus no hot water).  With our Complete Home Maintenance Solution, all of this is handled by your crew.  When they leave, your property is perfect and ready for you or your next guest to arrive.  Not only does our approach result in a better level of service, it ultimately results in a more efficient and cost-effective approach to maintaining your home.  High season months are generally concentrated on keeping your property “ready for arrival”.  Low season months are concentrated on the little extras that keep your property in optimal condition (i.e. deep cleaning, changing furnace filters, paint touch up, deck sealing, etc.).
